Faux G. Stein
In one of my many attempts to shed some of my (organized) clutter, I came across my old, undergrad art history papers and tests. For my American Modernism class, I wrote a fake edition of Camera Work.
The intro reads: This issue of Camera Work is dedicated to presenting some different responses to the recent International Exhibition of Modern Art inside the 69th Regiment Armory, New York City. First, is a review of the show by Alfred Stieglitz along with Gertrude Stein's written portrait of the Armory Show, that appeared in last month's issue of Camera Work. Following are reactions to the review and the show in general by painter, John Sloan, and art critic, Kenyon Cox.
I won't bore you with the whole issue but I do like my faux Gertrude Stein's portrait.
The Show
This is a show that is showing. A show that is interesting is showing. A showing of a show that is interesting. A showing of an interesting show is growing interest. An interest is growing in the show that is showing. A show is showing with interest certainly growing. A show is showing with excitement growing. A showing of a growing of interest and excitement is showing for the show that is showing. A growing excitement and interest is showing for the show. An interesting excitement is showing. This is a show that is showing.

This is a show that is showing interesting meaning that is certainly exciting. This is a show that is growing in meaning that is exciting. This is a showing of a show that is becoming. This is a show with meaning that is completely becoming. An interest is certainly becoming and an excitement is certainly growing for the show that is showing. Something becoming is certainly growing from the showing of the show with meaning that is completely interesting and exciting and becoming. This is a show that is becoming a growing of interesting meaning with the showing being so becoming.
