Thanks for introducing me to muxtape.com, I love it!
I've gotten a little obsessed with it and have made 3 mixes in the last week, despite the fact that my internet connection is slow and it takes forever to upload 12 songs.

For Ruth (My Grandmother)

My Grandmother and Grandfather
Sometime in the 1950s
On the back of this photograph it just had
the words "Look At Yourself" embossed
in typewriter font. It freaked me out.

She passed away April 11th. I asked my dad to play a song I want played at my funeral (does anyone else think about songs they want played at their funeral? does anyone else create iTunes playlists for it?). Anyway, perhaps its a bit self-involved and morbid but this song, Wildflowers sung by Dolly Parton, is one of the top songs for me. My grandmother known for being a bit of a free spirit, to say the least, loved traveling, loved meeting new people, seeing new places and things. My father always reminds me that this is what I've inherited from her. So I wanted to dedicate this song to her, at her funeral, for passing down my restlessness that always pushes me, for this feeling of freedom, of boundlessness that I love so much. I didn't really talk to her that much while she was alive. But something in me feels like I didn't need to talk to her to know her.
